    Goodyear Tyres will enhance the production capacity of its Aurangabad plant by 15% to 40 lakh tyres per annum. The Indian arm of the US tyremaker is looking at higher volumes with the launch of a new product, Dura Plus which would cater to high-volume small cars such as Alto, WagonR, Santro and Indica, accounting for the largest segment of Indian car market.

  • Bosch To Supply Braking Systems For Tata Nano

    Bosch Automotive Electronics India, a fully owned subsidiary of the Bosch group, has announced that it will set up operations near Sanand, in Gujarat, from where it will supply braking systems for the Tata Nano. Bosch's new unit in Gujarat is expected to be ready by the end of this year. Bosch has also recently set up a manufacturing facility at Naganathapura, near Bangalore, from where it will be supplying electronic control units (ECUs) for fuel injection systems for the Nano.

    Bosch India has inaugurated its manufacturing plant at Naganathapura, Bangalore for manufacture of ECUs for diesel and gasoline fuel injection systems in India. Bosch has invested over Rs. 60 crore in this facility during 2008 and 2009 and plans an additional investment of Rs. 68 crore by 2010.

  • Goodyear India Launches Duraplus

    The Indian arm of the US-based Goodyear is working on boosting its production capacity by 15%, which will take its annual production to four million tyres per annum.The company is also launching a new tyre - Goodyear DuraPlus - which is aimed at small family hatchbacks that account for the largest segment in the Indian car market. Goodyear India wants to target the replacement market with this new tyre and is also negotiating with car manufacturers for OEM fitment.

  • Apollo Acquires Dutch Tyre Manufacturer

    The Indian tyre manufacturer Apollo has acquired a Dutch tyre maker called Vredestein Banden BV. The amount for this trade hasn't been revealed. The company became bankrupt last month.The company has been renamed as Apollo Vredestein BV Private Limited and will be in the public listing with Apollo in the coming few months. The Dutch firm manufactured 5.5 million tyres annually getting the Apollo's total annual production close to 17 million tyres.
