‘Mallika is a kantewali Tulsi’Monday, August 18, 2008 Mallika Sherawat plays Paresh Rawal’s wife in the film Maan Gaye Mughal-E-Azam. Rawal’s character is the owner of a theatre group, and Malika, who plays Shabnam, a young, small-town girl, gets married to Paresh so that she can fulfill her dreams of making it big in Bollywood. When Paresh was asked on how it felt to be “married” to Mallika, he laughed. “In the beginning it seems nice to have a young, hot, beautiful girl as your wife. Then you tend to get suspicious and the world becomes your enemy as you try to protect her from your lecherous and slimy neighbors and friends. It is like ‘pura mohalle se dushmani leni padti hai’,” he says. When Maliika was asked how it felt to be chased by three men, she was heard saying that it was a great feeling. In fact, it was very funny to see Paresh trying to protect his “Aangan ki Tulsi”. Paresh says, “It’s good to have a young, beautiful wife, but Mallika was a ‘kantewali Tulsi’.”
