In India, the major player in the global flat panel display market, LG Electronics, announced today the launch of the single layer PQ70 HD Plasma TV with 600 Hz Sub-field Driving technologies. LG Electronics being a key player in plasma TVs, in 2008, continued to hold a very strong market share in the segment, with 50 percent of overall plasma sales in Korea and 44 percent in India. More than better viewing and stylish design, rising energy costs and the environment are more important. With its latest plasma TVs with its energy efficient Smart Energy Saving Plus, standard for 2009, LG addresses this.
Out of total plasma TVs sold in India in 2008 45% of them with Industry sales totaling 60,000 sets were made by LG.
