Maruti Suzuki WagonR is almost ready to take on its new avatar. This report comes after all-new 2018 Maruti WagonR was spied in India on public roads. The registration tags it as CBU while engine on use here is diesel. Maruti seems testing the possibility of an all new diesel engine as they are almost on the verge of discontinuing their engine pact with Fiat from 2020.
All-new Maruti Suzuki WagonR is using Heartect platform and thus, fans can expect more legroom and spacing inside the car. It will also be lighter than the existing platform but rigidity will improve a lot through use of better materials.
The new WagonR now loss smarter at both ends. Rear features LED lights with wide boot than before. Also, the LED brake light is embedded within the upper panel. It could share the platform with a Japanese spec car but engines would most probably stay the same as present generation car.
WagonR is known for its tallboy stance an buyers with more than average height feels uneasy within other hatchbacks with average roof height. It even comes with higher seats than same segment cars from other brands.
Front now comes with revised headlights that will carry halogen headlights only. Maruti may offer a top spec variant with LED lights but that won’t make much sense due to its price expectations close to present day Swift. Current generation WagonR measures 3595 mm in length, 1475 mm in width and 1700 mm in height.
Wheelbase comes out to be 2400 mm. It sits lower than Ignis in overall pricing. The effective driving nature makes WagonR one of the top 10 selling cars in India. It is powered by a 1.0L, 3-cylinder petrol motor producing 68 BHP and 91 Nm of torque. The engine comes with 5-speed manual as well as AMT option.
