2018 Maruti Suzuki Ertiga will get an official unveil in Jakarta, Indonesia on April 19. Parent brand Suzuki has planned a phase wise deployment of this new model as it will first launch in Indonesia and later in India.
This step will also be beneficial if Maruti plans to see user interest in their new model and plan if they really need this new model or will continue with the present affordable version.
The car has been spotted testing in both countries and first look review promises wider and longer stance than present Ertiga. Also, the focus may stay on third row seating.
Maruti Ertiga has cramped last row seats and taller passengers feel stuffed inside with limited amount of legroom. Those with higher budget for car buying move into Toyota Innova segment that now also houses the Hexa and not so relative XUV500.
Reports also claim that all new Ertiga will use a bigger and more powerful 1.5L petrol engine in Indonesia. The same engine could make its way into India as Maruti can use it under the hood of both 2018 Ertiga and Ciaz. Diesel power is not a priority for Indonesian market as they prefer petrol engines.
India, on the other hand, depends more on diesel engines for MPVs as both Hexa and Innova Crysta gets huge diesel motors in use. Rendered images for new Ertiga shows proper MPV style front fascia with mature looking lights and familiar Suzuki grill.
Also, the headlights are slightly inspired from S-Cross and get integrated turn indicators on its inner side. Maruti Ertiga was among the top 25 best-selling cars in March 2018, and the sales figure is expected to increase with the launch of 2018 model in India. Maruti Suzuki will bring a small hike in price for the updated model.
