Royal Enfield Sales Report (April 2018): Royal Enfield once again posted strong sales figure, this time bringing good numbers in first month of present fiscal (April 2018). Overall numbers were quite healthy at 76,187 units, registering 27% growth from the total number last year.
When considering sales number for domestic market, Royal Enfield was good for 74,627 units. This number is significantly larger than 58,564 units sold in April 2017. Exports went marginally down from 1578 units in April 2017 to 1560 units in same month this year. Royal Enfield pays tax in two different slabs as their products fall in different engine segments under GST.
Bullet 350, Bullet ES, Classic 350, Thunderbird 350 and Thunderbird 350X falls in 28% GST bracket whereas Bullet 500, Classic 500, Thunderbird 500, Thunderbird 500X and Himalayan are counted under 31% tax slab.
Majority of sales come from 346cc engine as 70,111 units out of the total import and export number were sold with this air cooled, torque rich motor. Bikes with this engine fall between INR 1.17 lakh to INR 1.57 lakh. On the other hand, bigger engine options like 411cc and 499cc were good for 6,076 units in April 2018. These high displacement bikes range from INR 1.69 lakh to INR 1.99 lakh.
