BMW has officially launched the G310R in India for INR 2.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The much-awaited roadster from German motorcycle manufacturer rivals KTM 390 Duke in its segment. G310R commands a premium price over TVS Apache RR310, which itself feels overpriced for most of the Indian states.
Equipment on the India-spec model stays the same as the international model, further adding a saree guard around the upper half of the chain. Engineered by BMW Germany and produced by TVS Motors, the premium roadster is their first experience in lightweight motorcycle segment for the country.
BMW G310R is powered by a 313cc, single-cylinder engine, producing 33.6 BHP at 9500 rpm and 28 Nm at 7500 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox. As the same version has arrived in India, the top speed rating for the motorcycle is 145 kph.
It weighs just 158.5 kg, excluding the saree guard. As KTM buyers struggle with high seat height on their street machines, BMW G310R comes with just 785mm of seat height. A healthy 165mm ground clearance further helps in keeping under-body protected at all times.
Available in Red, Black and White shade, G310R serves as the most affordable BMW ever in the history of India. The R series inspired design lines, and golden USD front forks make G310R a great option to consider around its price point.
The exhaust design and rear tyre profile of this motorcycle matches with the Apache RR 310. BMW has expressed no concerns regarding sales expectations. The motorcycle comes with standard ABS, a fully digital instrument console and fuel injection.
