Something that was only possible in the dreams of automotive enthusiast is turning into reality in the Indian market. A recent report confirms that dealers from Mumbai and Pune have started accepting bookings for KTM 125 Duke for a token amount of INR 1000. They have confirmed that the launch will take place in 2018, most probably around end November or early days of December. The report also clears that price difference between 125cc and 200cc Duke will be around INR 25,000. Further, the design lines are also said to be shared between all four Duke models.
The only change that one can expect in Duke 250 is the use of dual-channel ABS while lower placed Duke 200 is expected to share the same design as the 250cc model for the 2019 update. Adding ABS to the same will bring a huge price jump and get an expected INR 1.69 lakh worth price tag for the updated Duke 200 model. In comparison, the Duke 125 with CBS will retail for around INR 1.25 lakh, claiming INR 25,000 of drop in comparison to the ongoing non-ABS Duke 200 model. It will use the same equipment as Duke 250 and thus, old console and halogen front headlight will stay through the lower placed three models.
KTM may not go the other way and offer the same old design to Duke 125 as that could result in a lesser number of buyers for the first ever performance spec 125cc bike. The total output is restricted to 15HP in certain countries and getting more than that for India is another possibility with the 125cc engine. To keep the costs under check, the India-spec Duke 125 won’t be getting the all-digital TFT instrument console, all-LED headlight, Metzeler tyres, Ride-by-wire, KTM MY RIDE, and BOSCH 2-channel ABS (we will most probably get CBS).
