Kolkata Police Announces Huge Rebate Scheme for Traffic Fine Defaulters

Kolkata Police is here with one time traffic fine settlement scheme for motorists having pending fines on their side. The scheme will unfold in two phases, first of which will start on December 1, 2018. The citizens with pending traffic fines can pay with a discount of 65% over the value mentioned on their challan.

This is applicable on cases registered before November 15, 2018. The first phase is available until January 14, 2019. Those who miss this period can pay their fines between January 15 to February 13 at a discounted rate of 50%. They have not capped any number of offences.

The fines can be paid online or at any of the nearest traffic guards. The waiver is available for a limited time and those not complying with the same will face legal action after the given dates. Kolkata Police is struggling with pending payments and thus, this scheme was introduced. The piling cases are most probably causing them target issues for the current financial year.

For those who are planning to pay their fines can get the benefit of this scheme and swear not to break any rule in the future. Traffic rules are made for your own safety and respecting them makes everyone a responsible citizen.

Press Release: Kolkata Traffic Police has always been bringing in innovative and citizen-friendly systems and campaigns to make city roads safer for travel. This time round, we are launching a one time Settlement scheme to help vehicle owners dispose off the pending traffic cases at a discounted amount than the actual one. This scheme will not just help owners to pay off cases at a discounted rate, but will ensure that majority back-log cases are disposed off at a faster rate. The scheme for one time settlement of pending traffic cases provides for incentives to the public to pay outstanding fines and settle their pending traffic cases within the jurisdiction of Kolkata Police.
