Tata Motors is now offering a 5-Speed Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) on the Tiago NRG. The AMT variant is priced at INR 6.15 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), which is around INR 45,000 higher over its manual counterpart. The Tiago NRG is based on the standard model of the Tiago but has a higher ground clearance of 180mm versus 170mm on the regular model, which is quite noticeable.
Tata Tiago NRG comes with a black grille and headlamps with black inserts. It also has a black body kit, roof rails and black trim on the tailgate. The roof rails and ORVMs are also painted in black colour. When the Tiago NRG was first launched in September 2018, it came with 2 engine options, an 85 HP 1.2-litre petrol engine, and a 70 HP, 1.05-litre diesel engine, both mated to a manual transmission as standard. The Tiago NRG AMT model is available with the option of a petrol engine only.
The NRG is basically a rugged-looking version of the standard Tiago with additional body cladding and faux skid plates. As part of the kit, the car gets reflector headlamps, 14-inch steel rims with wheel covers, manual air-con, contrast stitch fabric upholstery, power assisted and tilt adjustable steering, remote locking, height-adjustable driver seat, four power windows, and electrically adjustable wing mirrors.
Also, the upgraded model of the Tiago NRG has got a new 7.0-inch infotainment system and has replaced the older 5.0-inch infotainment system. It also supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the car also gets auto-fold wing mirrors. The interiors of the updated car are the same except the increase in the touchscreen size. The car also features a multi-function steering wheel and voice recognition. Tata Tiago NRG will compete with the likes of Maruti Suzuki Celerio X and the Mahindra KUV100 NXT.
