BS4 Hero Splendor, HF Deluxe, Glamour and Pleasure Discontinued

According to the recent reports surfacing the internet, Hero MotoCorp has halted the production process of four BS4-compliant products namely Splendor, HF Deluxe, Glamour, and the Pleasure scooter. The brand will soon discontinue the other BS4 models as well about which the dealerships have already been notified.

The recent reports reveal that the company has also formed an interim council in order to keep a check on the BS6 transition. The Head of Global Product Planning, Malo Le Masson and Chief Financial Officer, Niranjan Gupta will be part of the council.

One of the Hero MotoCorp officials said in his statement, “The interim office will look after sales and after-sales during the transition period. The council will oversee the sales and after-sales function as Bhan has been relinquished from his duties to pursue opportunities outside of Hero MotoCorp… The interim council, which comprises of Hero’s leadership team and will be operational from December 13, and will play an important role to guide, support and handhold the sales and after-sales team to migrate the entire inventory to BS-VI well before the deadline of March 31, 2020.”

He further notified that the post-festive season inventory is at a two-year low which is an ideal situation for the BS4 to BS6 transition. Among the recently introduced products by Hero MotoCorp, we have seen the Splendor iSmart which is a BS6 vehicle that has been brought to the market at a price tag of INR 64,900 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Speaking of the mechanical details of the BS6 Splendor iSmart, it is powered by a new engine that gets a marginal displacement bump, a fuel injection system and it is claimed to deliver 10% more torque than the BS4 version. The bike has a 113.2 cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine that generates 9HP of max power and 9Nm of peak torque. It is expected that Hero MotoCorp will soon also launch the BS6 model of the Maestro Edge scooter in the coming weeks.
