KTM is updating its entire Duke range of bikes, providing them with the all new signature LED front light, borrowed from the adventure series of KTM motorcycles. KTM has even added a new instrument console, which looks premium and eliminates the most negatives against its value. The motorcycle has gone thorough many component changes, enhancing its overall performance and equipment list.
2017 KTM 1290 Super Duke R now comes with a revised 1301 cc, twin cylinder engine producing 177 HP. The addition of cornering ABS and the IMU now helps in controlling traction in a better manner. It uses those new 48 mm USD forks from WP, offering separate damping circuits and stiffer fork springs. The tyres in use are Metzeler M7RR Super Sport units with better levels of grip and ease of handling.
The dealer level upgradable features now include Motor Slip Regulations (MSR), KTM MY Ride and Quickshifter for both upshifts and downshifts. The motorcycle now comes with keyless operation and also loads cruise control for ease on longer rides. A track pack with optional track ride mode, launch control and three other drive modes is also available for the new beast.
The usable powerband has been broadened with more comfort being filled into the low rpm driving. The smoother power delivery is being promised at all rpms while no changes in gain or loss of weight has been reported yet. KTM 1290 SuperDuke R is still away from the Indian shores while a person can order the same personally as KTM would help them in importing the same from the European bike maker’s home country. If launched in India, 2017 KTM 1290 Super Duke R would be priced somewhere around Rs 15 lakhs (ex-showroom).
