The BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe and M8 have surfaced on Instagram in a new set of spy images. The brand was expected to launch the products in India sometime in the coming days though, the recent coronavirus pandemic situation has made them suspend the idea thus automatically delaying one of the most anticipated car launches in the Indian market.
Not only BMW is affected by this whole pandemic situation but every other automobile manufacturer is suffering as the country lockdown has halted every single operation for them. The launch of the much anticipated Honda City has been delayed while the BMW 8 series which was to be brought via the CKD route has also been facing the worst fate.
Coming to the BMW M8, the coupe is expected to be cherished by the customers looking for a performance-oriented car while the BMW 840i Gran Coupe will ultimately attract the audience looking for a luxury car that offers notable performance.
Powering the 2020 model of the BMW M8 is a 4.4-litre, V8, twin-turbo, S63 petrol engine that is capable of offering maximum power of 591HP and a peak torque of 750Nm. On the other hand, the BMW 840i Gran Coupe with a 3.0 litre, i6 engine is good for 340HP of maximum power and 500Nm of peak torque. All the engines are available to the customers with an 8-speed automatic gearbox along with an AWD system as standard.
The brand is expected to price the BMW M8 in the Indian markets at around INR 2 crores while one can expect the BMW 840i Gran Coupe to get an ex-showroom price tag of around INR 1.5 crores. Both the upcoming coupes are expected to register a top speed of 250 kmph (electronically limited).
