Honda Rebel 1100 in the Making; India Launch Possible

According to recent reports, the Honda Rebel 1100 is under development and the higher-displacement cruiser motorcycle is expected to share its underpinnings with the new Honda Africa Twin CRF1100L.

Since the Honda Africa Twin is powered by a 1,084cc, parallel-twin cylinder engine that is capable of generating a power output of 102 Bhp @ 7,500 rpm and a peak torque of 105 Nm @ 6,250 rpm, one can expect the upcoming Honda Rebel 1100 to offer similar performance values.

The Africa Twin is available with a 6-speed manual gearbox as well as an optional DCT transmission and thus the higher-displacement Rebel cruiser could be made available with the same gearbox options. The power and torque values of the Honda Africa Twin have been increased by a total of 7% and 6% respectively for its MY2020 avatar.

In addition to this, the upcoming 1100cc motorcycle is also expected to borrow the electronics package from the Africa Twin motorcycle. It will feature cornering ABS for utmost protection on the road as well as Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC), cruise control, wheelie control and more.

The brand is further expected to develop a new chassis, suitable for the new motor to be equipped on the 1100cc Rebel. The motorcycle is further expected to feature ride-by-wire technology in addition to featuring self-cancelling indicators as well as various other premium features.

Coming to the design language, the Rebel 1100 is expected to feature identical styling when compared to its younger 500cc sibling while competing in the markets against the likes of Harley-Davidson and Indian Motorcycle cruisers in the same segment.
