2021 Jeep Compass SUV Makes Official Debut in India: Jeep officially unveiled the 2021 model of Compass in China a few weeks ago, and the brand has today unveiled the SUV in India. The 2021 Jeep Compass competes in the market with the likes of MG Hector, Tata Harrier, Hyundai Creta, Skoda Karoq, Volkswagen T-Roc, and the Kia Seltos.
Being a facelift, the 2021 Jeep Compass SUV brings forth cosmetic changes both inside and out. To begin with the exterior, the front look has been imparted a fresh outlook to set it apart from the last-generation model of the midsize SUV. The 7-slat front grille has been revised a little bit while the front bumper has also been tweaked with a new two-part air dam. The top half of the air dam merges into the new fog lamps housing and the lower design of the bumper has also been revised and altered slightly.
Among other exterior features, the front LED DRLs of the car have also been repositioned while the projector headlamps design is also new. In addition to that, the 2021 model of Jeep Compass has been equipped with all-new alloy wheels. Coming to the rear end, the overall design of the SUV remains more or less the same.
The interiors of the 2021 Jeep Compass have gone through significant changes and the dashboard has been entirely re-designed to impart a fresh lease of life to the SUV. All major components starting from the steering wheel to the infotainment system and switchgear for HVAC/infotainment controls have undergone a big change.
The infotainment system is now bigger in size featuring a 10.1-inch touchscreen fitted with FCAs latest UConnect5 system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto Connectivity. The SUV now also features an all-digital 10.5-inch instrument cluster with multiple options to change the design.
Mechanically, there are no changes and the 2021 model of Compass continues to be available with the same set of engines and gearbox options. The customers can avail the SUV in two powertrains namely a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol unit and a 2.0-litre diesel unit.
The petrol engine is capable of generating maximum power of 160 HP along with a peak torque of 250 Nm while the diesel engine is good for 173 HP and 350 Nm. The engines come mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard while the brand is also offering a 7-speed DCT automatic transmission with the petrol engine and a 9-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox with the diesel engine.
For now, Jeep India has not revealed the price of the all-new Compass while one can expect the 2021 model to get a slight price hike in comparison to the present-gen model.
For your reference, the current-gen model of the SUV is available with a starting ex-showroom price tag of INR 16.49 lakhs while the price range goes all the way up to INR 27.60 lakhs for the top-spec Trailhawk 4×4 (O) variant.
In terms of availability, the pre-bookings for the 2021 Compass are already open at the authorized Jeep dealerships across the Indian markets while the official launch is expected to take place next month.
