Production-Spec Next-Gen Mahindra Scorpio Spotted: The production-ready model of the next-gen Mahindra Scorpio SUV has been spotted for the first time in a set of high-resolution spy photos. As one can judge from the photos, the 2021 model of Scorpio looks bigger and more premium in comparison to the current-gen version.
Coming to the design, the front fascia of the 2021 model features the familiar Mahindra grille with vertical slats. The SUV further features all-new twin-pod headlights which have been further mated to C-shaped LED DRLs (Daytime Running Lights) housed inside the front bumper. At the rear end, the next-gen Mahindra Scorpio has been equipped with vertical all-LED tail-lights.
Some of the other key design elements include the likes of new multi-spoke alloy wheels, wing mirrors with integrated turn indicators, a side-hinged tailgate, roof rails, side steps, and the pull-type door handles. The new Mahindra Scorpio Z101 is expected to be based on a ladder-frame chassis.
Mahindra has recently also obtained a trademark by the name ‘Scorpio Sting’ and reflects that it will pose a tough competition to all of the mid-size SUVs available in the Indian market. The evident step in the next-gen Scorpio is the larger footprint of the SUV. The bonnet is longer, the overhangs are longer and it looks wider and much more spacious than the present-gen model.
In terms of availability, the next-gen Mahindra Scorpio will go on-sale in the Indian markets in the second quarter of 2021 and the upcoming SUV is expected to come powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine with an option for a 6-speed manual and a torque-converter 6-speed automatic transmission.
