Yamaha R15 V3-Based F155 Moped Concept Revealed: Recently, at a special launch event in Vietnam, Yamaha showcased its new F155 moped concept and also launched the 2021 model of the MX King 155. This was not just another launch event as the Japanese bike maker took its viewers by surprise by unveiling the F155 concept.
Just like the MX King, the F155 is also based on the YZF-R15 V3 fully-faired sportbike. Yamaha F155 is a moped and its bodywork is inspired by the Yamaha’s litre-class sportbike, YZF-R1. The sharp and geometric styling of the bike extends to the side panels and up to the floating and pointed tail section.
The front apron of the moped resembles the front fascia of the R1 with a puny centre air intake flanked by tiny LED headlamps. The concept of Yamaha F155 moped is based on the Deltatbox perimeter frame similar to that of the YZF-R15 V3.
The engine is the same 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor equipped with Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) technology. Yamaha has equipped the F155 moped with 17-inch alloy wheels which are suspended by upside-down forks at the front end and a monoshock at the rear end.
The F155 reportedly gives a glimpse of Yamaha’s forthcoming model of the MX King 155 which sold in Vietnam. Once the production starts for the F155, it will shave off its impractical parts in the production process. At present, Yamaha Motor India has no plans to launch the production model of the F155 concept in our country as we don’t have a market for premium mopeds.
