BYD e6 Electric MPV Officially Launched in India at INR 29.15 Lakh

China-based automaker BYD has introduced its first electric MPV e6 in the Indian vehicle market. The MPV is available only in one variant and the price starts at Rs 29.15 lakh (ex-showroom). It is worth mentioning that rather than selling the MPV direct to customers, BYD will supply it to corporate buyers and car fleet owners. As per the brand, currently, the newly launched e6 will be available in Ahmedabad, Chennai, Bengaluru, Delhi NCR, Kochi, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Vijayawada.

BYD has been testing the e6 in the Indian market for quite some time. It is a completely new car that has been updated in overseas markets as well. The usage of a lot of chrome on the BYD e6 MPV makes it appear pretty appealing. The front end is outfitted with elegant LED projector headlights and a broad chrome slat linking both modules. The front bumpers get a blacked-out skirt as well as side vents. The MPV has a coupe-inspired inclined roofline, and the all-black pillars give the car a floating roof vision.

On the inside, the all-new e6 has leather seats as well as six-way adjustable driver and front passenger seats. The central console is outfitted with a huge 10.1-inch rotatable touchscreen display with Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity options. The electric MPV also has a filtration system that purifies the air to a medical-grade face mask level. The new e6 has 580 litres of boot capacity, MacPherson strut front suspension, and multilink rear suspension.

In terms of performance, the BYD e6 electric MPV has a 71.7 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate battery pack and is stated to have a driving range of 520 km on a single charge in the WLTC cycle and 415 km in the ARAI cycle. It is capable of producing a maximum torque of 180 Nm, which is good enough to make the MPV achieve a top speed of 130 kmph. The company claims that the e6 supports both AC and DC fast charging and can charge from 30 to 80 per cent in 35 minutes while charging on a DC outlet.
