Husqvarna bikes are known for their striking looks, and the new Norden 901 continues in that tradition. The production-spec motorbike is an adventure motorcycle that resembles the concept that was shown at EICMA 2019. This bike is a full long-distance travel mate, complete with off-road components as it is based on the KTM 890 Adventure.
Husqvarna’s round LED headlight is characteristic, with a sleek windscreen positioned over it. As an option, a larger windshield is offered. The LED position lights are located beneath the headlight and have been effectively incorporated. It distinguishes the Norden 901 as a Husqvarna product.
The motorbike sports an aluminium tapered handlebar, a height-adjustable 2-piece seat (854mm), a TFT screen (smartphone connectivity, audio, and navigation are available via the optional Ride Husqvarna Motorcycles app), and baggage storage.
The Husqvarna Norden 901 ADV is built on a chrome-molybdenum steel trellis frame to which a steel trellis subframe is mounted and is powered by an 889cc liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine producing 103 BHP at 8000 RPM and 100 Nm of torque at 6500 RPM. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch and bi-directional quickshifter, and the rider may choose between three ride modes (Street, Rain, and Off-road), as well as an optional ‘Explorer’ mode (for off-roading).
Moreover, the Husqvarna Norden 901 ADV rides on 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wire-spoked wheels with off-road tyres and features adjustable WP Apex 43mm inverted front forks (220mm of travel) and an adjustable WP Apex rear shock (215mm of travel). Its braking system is supported by a switchable Bosch Cornering ABS system with Street and Off-road settings.
Husqvarna has also equipped it with cornering motorcycle traction control that is responsive to lean angle (MTC). The Norden 901 also has an optional Ride Husqvarna Motorcycle app for Android and iOS that delivers music and communications via Bluetooth and is manageable via a handlebar-mounted mode switch.
