Electric Toyota Innova MPV Prototype Officially Showcased

Toyota is currently working on a slew of new vehicles to expand its worldwide portfolio, some of which are electric concepts. Recently, the brand unveiled the Innova EV concept during the Indonesia International Motor Show in Jakarta, and the first images of the vehicle have already surfaced online. However, not many details have been disclosed by the brand yet, but we can see that Toyota is moving forward to an electrified future.

It’s worth mentioning here that the forthcoming electric Innova seems to be based on the current-gen model of the car. In other words, it will be powered by an electric powertrain, but the bodyshell and design will remain the same. Of course, there are a few noticeable differences between the EV and a standard vehicle. The major update to the front facade is the solid-fibre grille with a modest air-flow opening.

Moving forward, the Toyota logo on the front is surrounded by blue details and distinguishes the EV model from other models. The front bumper is also redesigned, and the design of the alloy wheels also appears to be updated. Another prominent addition is the electric badge on the rear of the MPV, which indicates that the upcoming Innova will be an all-electric car rather than a plug-in hybrid EV.

Besides this, in other photos, we can also notice the updated instrument console with an eco metre and a tachometer. The car continues to feature analogue dials as opposed to the fully digital screens in other EVs. As far as its India launch is concerned, Toyota is unlikely to offer the Innova EV in India anytime soon. On the other hand, the brand will undoubtedly monitor consumer reaction to the Innova EV in the Indian market. If such EVs had a market in India, the Japanese manufacturer would not hesitate to launch the vehicle.
