MG Hector SUV Updated Design Revealed In Teaser Video

MG Motor India has released another teaser for the updated MG Hector SUV, which will go on sale in the coming weeks. Its official release date, however, has yet to be announced. Spy photos of the updated Hector that have recently surfaced provide additional clues about the SUV’s design, implying restyled front bumpers and tweaked headlights. According to the spy photos, the updated Hector will keep the existing model’s alloy wheels.

The most recent teaser video shows its front fascia with a newly designed chrome grille and silhouette. The spy shots confirm that the headlamps and taillights will be updated as well. The most significant changes will be made inside the cabin, including a new 14-inch portrait-style touchscreen infotainment system similar to the one found in the Tesla Model S.

The new 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system, the largest in any car sold in India thus far, will be the most noticeable change on the inside. The previous MG teaser image also shows a revised dashboard design with new horizontal AC vents, as well as a centre console with a new flowing design and a new gear lever.

The new Hector’s changes go beyond cosmetic updates and a 14-inch touchscreen. The updated Hector, like its stablemates the Astor, Gloster, and ZS EV, will get Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). This means that it will include active safety features such as blind spot detection, forward collision warning, lane keep assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane departure warning. The ADAS sensors and cameras are likely to be housed on the windscreen of the refreshed SUV.

However, no changes to the powertrain options are expected. The Hector facelift will retain two engines: a 143hp, 1.5-litre petrol engine with mild-hybrid technology and a 170hp, 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine.

The MG Hector facelift will sit above the current model and is expected to cost between Rs 1.5 lakh and Rs 2 lakh more than the current model. A similar update will be made available to Hector Plus in the future.
