By The MY2023 of Honda City has borrowed features from its Hybrid counterpart in anticipation of Hyundai’s 4th-gen Verna. Honda hopes to maintain its dominance in the mid-size sedan segment with the newly-launched facelift. The base petrol MT City facelift 2023 model costs Rs 11.49 lakh, and the City hybrid ZX is available for Rs 20.39 lakh. This raises the price of the new City by up to Rs 35,000.
The changes in the City facelift are very subtle; most things in the new City are similar. They have focused more on introducing new features and technology into this segment. Honda has made the most significant changes to its front bumper. Faux carbon fibre bits of composites are used in the front and rear bumpers.
The Honda City was already a feature-rich sedan, it had a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear knob. It had padded door pads, an auto-dimming IRVM, and ORVMs. An 8” infotainment system, a digital instrument console, automatic climate control, and a sunroof, are some of the existing features of the popular sedan.
Honda has included its Sensing Suite of camera-based ADAS technology with the facelift. Honda’s camera unit is located beneath the IRVM. The ADAS includes automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blindspot monitoring, and lane change assist. The lane change assist camera beneath the left ORVM remains in place as before.
Honda has discontinued diesel powertrains with RDE standards taking effect on March 31, 2023. A single 1.5L NA petrol engine produces a max power of 120 hp and 145 Nm of peak torque. This BS6-compliant engine comes with either a 6-speed manual or a CVT transmission. The claimed fuel efficiency of the 2023 model is around 18 km/l. It also has a powerful hybrid option, the only one in the segment with a claimed mileage of more than 26 km/l.
