650cc BSA Motorcycle Spotted Testing in India; To Rival RE 650 Twins

Back in 2021, Classic Legends resurrected the British motorcycle brand BSA. The first motorcycle to bear this name is the Gold Star 650, which debuted in December 2021 in Birmingham, UK. The BSA 650cc was launched in the United Kingdom in July 2022. It costs around GBP 6,500, which is almost Rs 6.62 lakh at today’s exchange rate. It is scheduled to launch in several nations throughout the world.

BSA 650cc test mules have been spotted on Indian roads in production-ready form. The company has not yet confirmed a launch in India. But, considering the success of the modern classic part, Classic Legends may bring it here. BSA intends to introduce the Gold Star 650 in the United States as well. The bike could be introduced in South American markets by the manufacturer.

Classic Legends will produce the 650cc roadster in India and ship it to other markets. The company is also planning to construct a new assembly plant in the United Kingdom. So that manufacturing operations would be distributed between the two countries.

Redline Studios in the United Kingdom designed the Gold Star 650. Ricardo, a British engineering specialist, created the chassis. The engine was purchased from Rotax and is developed by the Technical University of Graz.

A 652cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled motor powers the Gold Star 650. This engine can generate a max power output of 45 hp and a peak torque of 55 Nm. This unit is linked to a 5-speed transmission through a slipper and assist clutch. This bike has a top speed of 166 km/h (company-claimed).

The BSA Gold Star 650 is built on a dual-cradle tubular frame. It has raked-out telescopic forks up front and twin preload-adjustable rear shock absorbers. Disc brakes on both ends with Brembo callipers are assisted by a dual-channel ABS.
