By Toyota Innova Hycross has been one of India’s best-selling mid-size SUVs. It has outsold the MG Hector, Safari, and Tata Harrier in the Indian market.
Toyota had prioritised the delivery of higher-end Innova Hycross models. The base G variant has begun to arrive in dealer yards. Cost reduction is evident throughout this variation. This should result in an enticing pricing point.
Toyota takes an effort to ensure that its lower trims do not appear cheap in comparison to higher trims. That is no longer the case, as the base Hycross G trim now includes steel wheels and wheel covers.
Toyota has equipped the Innova HyCross base G variant with 205/65 R16 tyres. They appear little and slender on Hycross. It has LED headlights with reflectors. The notable exclusions are fog lights, a few chrome accents, and a rear defogger. The Car Show channel on Youtube has a detailed walkaround video of this base G variant.
There is more cost-cutting on the interior than one would have wanted. Toyota elected to include certain parts as part of the package. But some impressive and essential features were not included.
The steering wheel has controls but they only control MID. Rear washer and wiper, and adjustable ORVMs. Manual dimming IRVMs, tilt and telescopic steering adjustment, and traction control. Rear AC vents with a separate blower, and USB type-C slots at the front and rear. A tray and cup holders for the second row, and rear armrests for individual seats, are all other features.
This car has 7 seats with 2nd-row captain chairs. An 8-seater variant with a bench seat is also available. The Innova Hycross taxi model has the same 2.0L 4-cylinder petrol engine. This engine with a single CVT transmission produces a max power of 173 bhp and 209 Nm of peak torque.
This taxi model designed for fleet owners and taxi service providers cannot exceed 80 km/h. This vehicle will have a speed governor installed. Toyota promises 16.13 kilometres per litre of mileage, which is quite impressive for a car of its size.
