New Yamaha R3 and MT-03 Bookings Open in India – Report

Unofficial bookings for the upcoming 2023 R3 and MT-03 have begun across India. The R3 and MT-03 can only be reserved with select Yamaha dealers. Depending on the dealership, the booking fee ranges from Rs 5,000 to Rs 20,000. The official debut of these bikes is expected in two months based on some dealer sources.

For those who are unaware, the 2023 R3 and MT-03 were recently displayed at a dealer event in India. It was done to test the crowd reaction by the company, which was positive. Yamaha also displayed larger bikes like the MT-07 and the YZF-R7 at the same exhibition. These larger bikes are likely to make their way to the Indian market in the coming months.

The Yamaha R3 is a fully-faired motorcycle and it competes against the KTM RC 390, Kawasaki Ninja 300, Keeway K300R, and TVS Apache RR 310. It was accessible in India till 2019 when the Japanese brand discontinued it. Although it was praised for its powerful engine and adaptable personality, the R3’s exorbitant price tag was its weakness back then. Yamaha will have to offer the R3 with an attractive price tag this time around.

The Yamaha MT-03 is the naked version of the R3 and will be introduced for the first time in India. It will compete with BMW G 310 R, KTM 390 Duke, and the Keeway K300N. The majority of its components are shared with the R3. It includes the 321cc parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine as well. This engine can produce a max output of 42 hp and a peak torque of 29.4 Nm. The chassis, USD forks, mono-shock, and braking components are all shared by both bikes.
