Today in New Delhi, Honda’s SUV, the Elevate, made its world debut. This vehicle represents the company’s entry into the SUV market. But, Honda is not a newcomer to the SUV market; it previously offered the CR-V and BR-V models in India. Beginning in July 2023, reservations for the Elevate will be accepted and the price announcement will follow.
The Elevate resembles more recent Honda SUVs sold outside, including the CR-V, in terms of appearance. The Elevate has a large grille, two fog lamps underneath, and slim, LED headlights on either side. A substantial chrome bar connects the headlamps and the LED daytime running lights.
The flat nose of the Elevate sports a large Honda emblem in the centre. The Elevate has 17-inch alloy wheels that are comparable to those on the redesigned City. It has a slightly sloped back window and taillights joined by a red bar that resembles a light bar at the back. Moreover, the tailgate has an indentation for housing the licence plate.
A 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen stands alone in the centre of the Elevate’s dashboard. The Elevate receives a single-pane sunroof as a feature. Moreover, a rear parking camera, wireless smartphone connectivity with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and a 7-inch digital instrument cluster are included. The Honda Sensing ADAS package will also be available in the Elevate.
The Global Small Vehicle platform used to construct the Honda City sedan also serves as the foundation for the Honda Elevate. The SUV’s 1.5-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine, which produces 121 horsepower and 145 Nm of torque, is shared with the City.
Either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a CVT delivers power to the front wheels. Also, the automaker has declared that an electric drivetrain would be available for the Elevate within the next three years.
With only the City and Amaze sedans in its current lineup, Honda’s return to the SUV market is a much-needed move. Honda is reticent to discuss prices, but an announcement is expected soon. The Elevate SUV’s mother plant is in India, and Honda has announced that the SUV will be sold in numerous foreign markets.
