The BMW CE 02 electric bike, known for its quirky design and compact size, is set to be produced in India at TVS’ Hosur facility. Although it was recently spotted in India, this e-bike, developed in collaboration with TVS, will primarily be manufactured in India for export to global markets. However, it is important to note that it won’t be available in the Indian market immediately. There are plans to potentially introduce it in limited numbers sometime in the next year.
Specifications of the BMW CE 02 include a 2kWh battery pack and an 11kW peak power hub motor, offering a range of 90km and a top speed of 95kmph. While these figures are reasonable, some may find them underwhelming, especially considering the brand’s association with BMW Motorrad and the bike’s price tag of USD 7599 (equivalent to approximately Rs 6.26 lakh) in the US market.
In terms of its components, the CE 02 features USD forks, adjustable rear shock absorbers, a 239mm front disc, and a 220mm rear disc and it rides on 14-inch wheels fitted with 120/80 and 150/70 section tires.
When the BMW CE 02 does eventually arrive in the Indian market, it could be priced similarly to the recently launched TVS X, which is available at Rs 2,49,990 (ex-showroom). This indicates that it might be a more affordable option in the electric two-wheeler segment offering an intriguing alternative for those seeking a unique and compact electric bike.
