Mahindra is gearing up to unveil the highly-anticipated XUV300 facelift in February 2024, marking its entry into the fiercely competitive compact SUV market with a refreshed design and a suite of enhanced features. The introduction of this facelift follows closely on the heels of the launch of the updated XUV400 EV in January signaling Mahindra’s strategic move to fortify its position in the segment. Set to contend with rivals such as the recently revamped Nexon and the upcoming refreshed Kia Sonet, the XUV300 facelift is poised to make a significant impact.
Design Overhaul Inspired by the Futuristic BE SUV Line-up
The upcoming XUV300 facelift is slated to undergo a comprehensive styling transformation, particularly at the front and rear. Drawing inspiration from Mahindra’s forthcoming BE line-up of SUVs scheduled for release in 2025, the facelift will showcase distinct changes. These include a more angular nose, reimagined LED daytime running lamps, the introduction of a new two-part grille, and an enlarged central air intake. At the rear, a completely redesigned tailgate will feature a full-width LED light bar, sleeker C-shaped tail lamps, and a repositioned registration plate.
Powerful Engine Coupled with an Innovative Transmission
?A notable addition to the XUV300 facelift is the introduction of an Aisin-sourced 6-speed automatic transmission (torque converter), paired with the potent 131hp, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol (TGDI) engine and this transmission has gained recognition in other models such as the Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun. Simultaneously, the existing engines, including the 1.5-litre diesel and 1.2-litre turbo and direct injection turbo petrol units, will continue to be offered with the 6-speed manual and automated manual transmission options.
Elevated Features for a Modernized Driving Experience
?Beyond the exterior metamorphosis, the XUV300 facelift is set to incorporate a range of new features designed to offer a modern touch to the driving experience. Notable additions include a segment-first panoramic sunroof providing an expansive view of the surroundings and an upgraded 10.25-inch infotainment screen contributing to the vehicle’s overall technological allure. While advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) and a 360-degree camera won’t be part of the offering, the focus on a larger sunroof and an advanced infotainment display aims to enhance the vehicle’s appeal.
Electric Variant Joining the Line-up
?In a move indicative of Mahindra’s commitment to electrification, the XUV300 facelift will be accompanied by an electric variant. Positioned below the XUV400 EV, this electric iteration is strategically timed to cater to the growing demand for electric SUVs. With a scheduled launch by June 2024, the electric XUV300 aims to present a compelling alternative in the evolving electric SUV market rivaling competitors like the new Nexon EV.
Mahindra is a leader in the compact SUV market thanks to its innovative design, technology breakthroughs, and electrification and the XUV300 facelift is evidence of this as the brand reimagines the compact SUV segment. Mahindra will continue to manage the dynamic SUV market.
