Car Exports in December 2023: Virtus, Jimny, Sunny, City, Magnite, eC3, Polo, Meridian

In December 2023, the number of cars exported was 60,767, which was a decrease of 10.51 percent compared to the previous year. In December 2022, India had exported 67,907 cars. This means there was a decrease of 7,140 cars compared to the previous year. Maruti Suzuki was the top exporter once again, with four of its car models among the top 10.

Top Exported Cars in December 2023 – Maruti Baleno Leads

Maruti Baleno

The Maruti Baleno was the most exported car, with 6,817 units shipped in December 2023. This was a 36.29 percent increase compared to December 2022 when 5,002 units were exported. The Baleno made up 11.22 percent of the total exports. Following closely was the Hyundai Verna, with 5,886 units exported, showing a 4.55 percent increase from December 2022.

Maruti Jimny

Maruti Suzuki’s DZire ranked third with 5,318 units exported, a 1.68 percent increase from December 2022. The VW Vitrus saw a significant growth of 55.02 percent, with 4,556 units exported. The Maruti Jimny experienced exceptional demand, with exports increasing by 98250% from December 2022 to 3,934 units. However, Nissan Sunny saw a decrease of 23.08 percent in exports, with 3,596 units shipped in December 2023.
 

Honda City

Honda City exports saw a remarkable increase of 162.71 percent to 3,494 units, while the Hyundai Grand i10 saw a decline of 11.87 percent to 3,333 units. The Aura experienced a growth of 16.34 percent in exports to 2,955 units, and the Maruti Celerio saw a growth of 40.94 percent to 2,076 units.

Nissan Magnite

Exports of Nissan Magnite and Maruti Swift decreased by 13.97 percent and 31.71 percent respectively, with 1,965 units and 1,878 units exported in December 2023. However, exports of Maruti Ciaz increased by 10.13 percent to 1,849 units, and exports of HyRyder increased significantly by 1323.81 percent to 1,495 units. Maruti Ertiga (1,457 units) and Grand Vitara (1,359 units) also showed increased demand, with growth rates of 59.76 percent and 1410 percent respectively.

Exports of Less than 1,000 Units

Taigun exports increased by 6.40 percent to 997 units, while exports of Kia Sonet (968 units), Alcazar (846 units), and S-Presso (744 units) decreased. Other cars on the export list included the EC3 (661 units), Mahindra XUV700 (625 units), Fronx (606 units), Carens (507 units), Eeco van (499 units), and Venue (397 units). Further down the list were the XUV300 (312 units), Seltos (311 units), Hyundai Creta (200 units), and Kushaq (162 units), with XUV300 and Kushaq showing growth in exports.

Exports of Mahindra Scorpio decreased by 59.85 percent to 161 units, while Honda Elevate exports increased to 129 units. Other cars on the list included Amaze (126 units), i20 (83 units), Polo (64 units), KUV100 (60 units), and Ignis (55 units). Meridian and Kiger saw decreases in exports to 52 units and 40 units respectively, while WagonR exports totaled 36 units.

Exports of Brezza and XL6 increased by 328.57 percent and 57.89 percent respectively to 30 units each, while Alto exports decreased by 98.64 percent to just 28 units in December 2023 from 2,055 units in December 2022. Bolero and Maxximo saw increased demand by 400 percent and 650 percent respectively to 20 and 15 units, while Triber (10 units) and Kwid (8 units) saw lower demand globally.
