The P4 variant, positioned as the base model offers a robust package with essential features and a powerful diesel engine making it a practical choice for those seeking a 9-seater SUV without the frills of higher-end models.
Design and Exterior
The Bolero Neo Plus P4 maintains the traditional boxy silhouette that is characteristic of the Bolero lineup. While it shares the overall design with the higher-spec P10 variant, it omits some of the premium touches. The P4 variant does not feature chrome inserts on the grille or the front lip of the bonnet, which is present in the P10; these elements are instead finished in a simpler, black style. Fog lamps, which add a touch of sophistication and functionality, are also absent in this base model.
The side profile of the P4 is straightforward with 16-inch steel wheels, unlike the alloys found on the P10. Additionally, it lacks the side footstep which enhances accessibility in the higher variant.

Inside, the Bolero Neo Plus P4 sports a functional dual-tone black and beige interior. Notably, it does not come with a music system or touchscreen, which are expected in more premium models. The seating is covered in basic vinyl upholstery, and climate control is managed via rotary dials.
On-board Features
The feature set in the P4 is minimalistic, focusing on essentials such as central locking, front and rear power windows, tilt-adjustable steering, and 12V charging ports. It lacks the more advanced features found in the P10 like a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a six-speaker sound system, height-adjustable driver’s seat, foldable second-row seats, and remote key entry.
Safety
Safety features in the P4 variant include ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, and dual front airbags, ensuring fundamental safety across all variants.
Powertrain
Under the hood, the P4 variant is equipped with a robust 2.2-litre diesel engine that delivers 120 PS and 280 Nm of torque, coupled with a 6-speed manual transmission. Unlike its higher-end counterpart, it does not include a mechanical locking differential, which is available in the more equipped versions of the Bolero Neo.
Pricing and Market Position
Priced at Rs 11.39 lakh (ex-showroom), the Bolero Neo Plus P4 offers a cost-effective option for buyers needing a large, durable vehicle without the additional luxury features. It competes against both traditional SUVs like the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, and the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara as well as more rugged offerings like the Scorpio Classic and Scorpio N, serving as a more affordable alternative.
