KTM 125 Duke vs Yamaha R15 V3: KTM 125 Duke is a pure streetfighter and it was recently launched in India with a price tag of INR 1.18 lakh (ex-showroom). It is equipped with features like ABS and USD forks, making it the first 125cc motorcycle in India to get these 2 features. Unlike the regular 125cc bikes with no performance expectations, the KTM 125 Duke is good for 14.5 PS of maximum power and 12 Nm of torque.
The engine comes with a 6-speed gearbox, leaving behind slipper clutch for effective placement. Yamaha R15 V3 is not a direct rival to KTM 125 Duke, but getting this impressive machine for INR 1.27 lakh can confuse first time motorcycle buyers within both options. The name KTM excites sporty senses while Yamaha R15 helped Indian buyers understand the concept of supersport riding.
The 155.1cc engine comes with VVA for better power delivery, producing 19.3 PS of power and 15 Nm of torque for the racer. It is definitely faster and comes with a slipper clutch for easy operation of the gearbox. Still, those looking for added safety will consider Duke 125 for the 1-channel ABS.
Also, Yamaha skipped the USD forks from the Indonesian version for the telescopic ones while Duke 125 retains the exact components as the bigger Duke. The tire size is also more influential on the most affordable Duke (110 front and 150-section rear tire) of all time.
