Brand-Wise 2-Wheeler Sales Report: September 2018 was a great month for the automobile industry, especially two-wheeler brands with numbers that are simply fascinating. Although Hero MotoCorp went short of just 1,465 units for the 7.50 lakh mark, they still got the first position with a huge gap of around 2.43 lakh units from Honda.
Not just that, Splendor is once again the most loved two-wheeler in India. Honda posted 5,05,234 units in September 2018 while TVS got the third position with 3,61,136 units. Bajaj Auto posted 2,68,861 units and scored the fourth position. The gap between Yamaha and Royal Enfield widened by around 9.7k units, fetching fifth and sixth position for both the brands. Suzuki shows clear progress with 63,137 units for the month of September.
The seven dominating brands of India collectively registered 20,96,751 units from the total available sales figure of 21,22,318 units from 15 brands. Sales number for BMW, Ducati, Indian or any other premium performance brand may not make any significant ratio difference. Piaggio Vespa range got itself the eighth position, overtaking KTM and Aprilia by a considerable margin.
After the tenth position, one either get performance specific brands like Kawasaki (387 units), Harley-Davidson (270 units) and Triumph (80 units) or struggling to survive options like Mahindra (419 units) and UM (231 units). The numbers show poor performance, despite being priced within bikes that single-handedly post four digit numbers in one month.
