Suzuki brought a revolution in the Indian market with its street oriented Gixxer in September 2014. At its time of launch, Indian market was dominated with just Yamaha FZ and FZS, which at that time were available in both version 1.0 and 2.0. The second version was not so pleasing for the customers as they were expecting something big from Yamaha. This made them search for something else with more power and better design, pointing straight onto the newly launched Suzuki Gixxer.
Since then, there has been a tough fight between both the FZ Series and Gixxer, each of them launching new shades, better equipped variants and more number of options to the fans. Today, Gixxer is available in 3 different variants named Mono Tone Gixxer, Dual Tone Gixxer and Dual Tone Gixxer with rear disc brake. On the other hand FZS V2 comes in a single variant.
5 Reasons Why Suzuki Gixxer is Better than Yamaha FZS
Here we have 5 Reasons to place Suzuki Gixxer one slot above the Yamaha FZS V2:
1) More Affordable to Own
Suzuki Gixxer brought better possibilities on a street machine with a more effective price than the Yamaha FZS V2. The base variant with single disc and mono tone shade starts at just INR 76,726 while even the most equipped version with dual tone shade and double disc brake INR 79,726. On the other hand Yamaha FZS V2 comes with a price tag of INR 82,259 for the regular shades and INR 83,259 for the Matt Green shade. These prices are ex-showroom Delhi.
Engine on the Gixxer is much more powerful than the FZS V2 motor. The 154.9cc, 1-cylinder motor is good for 14.6 Bhp @ 8000 rpm and 14 Nm @ 6000 rpm. It comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The engine on the FZS V2 makes just 12.9 Bhp @ 8000 rpm and 12.8 Nm @ 6000 rpm.
The best part on the Gixxer is the availability of rear disc brake. The disc inspires confidence within the rider when driving on high speeds as shredding speed was never so easy in the street 150cc segment. Yamaha fans were expecting a rear disc brake in the second version but unfortunately, it is not here till date.
4) Looks Better than FZS V2
Gixxer offers more visual pleasure when seen from most of the angles than the Yamaha FZS V2. It comes with a chiseled fuel tank while ends in a very smooth manner with an attractive tail lamp design. The hump in its seat makes it a pure street sport motorcycle while the seating and rear end design of the FZS feels more of the tourer segment.
5) Informative Instrument Console
The instrument console on the Gixxer is much better when compared to the FZS V2’s fully digital console. It feels more loud and clear with even more options like a digital clock and gear position indicator. The console looks much neat and equally smart on the Gixxer with even better placement of values on it.
