Norton Superlight, the most recent sportbike from the British manufacturer, is now official for £19,950 (INR 18.32 lakh approx). The price is quite impressive for a superbike of this segment as Norton bikes are handmade and expensive in comparison to other bikes of the similar type. The engine on Norton Superlight measures 650cc in displacement, producing a maximum power of 105 BHP at 12,500. The maximum torque value is even good at 75 Nm. Apart from the power values, the bike wins in term of overall weight, tipping the scale at 158 kg (dry) and carrying a wheelbase of 1399mm.
The high 13.4:1 compression ratio, ride by wire, fuel injection through four injectors and Euro 4 compliant engine is a real gem for parallel twin segment. The body is completely made from carbon fiber while the 18-liter fuel tank is internally coated with chemicals to avoid reaction between the fuel and carbon fiber inner lining. The use of single-sided swingarm further takes the premium quotient up by one level. The wheels are even made from carbon fiber and measure 17-inch in diameter. The front brake measures 330mm while rear comes with 245mm unit. The Brembo brakes are available with ABS as standard. The complete titanium exhaust can be fitted to the system to get 6 HP of power increase. The unit weighs just 6 kg and improves power to weight ratio to a great extent.
