TVS Zeppelin was first seen as a concept at the 2018 Auto Expo. The showstopper falls in the cruiser category of motorcycles, targeting buyers who are in the need of a sports cruiser. However, the concept will take few more months to turn production-ready. Here are 7 must-know facts for the TVS Zeppelin 220.

7 Must-Know Facts About Zeppelin 220

1) First TVS Cruiser Motorcycle

TVS is known for production of commuter, street and sport bikes, leaving the cruiser segment empty from last three decades. The motorcycle features low seat height, forward-biased foot-pegs and smaller than usual rim size. All these guarantee high levels of comfort and control from the motorcycle.

2) New Age Design

The extended fuel tank, sharp tail section and raised pillion seat add modern lines to the package. The engine bay is neat, perfectly filled and highlighted with silver inserts. TVS is using belt-drive for the concept version, making it the first motorcycle of its segment to carry the feature. The headlight is derived from a typical modern street machine.

3) Premium Components

TVS Zeppelin 220 comes with premium 41mm USD front forks, full-LED headlight, belt-drive and grippy Pirelli tyres. The addition of a sporty exhaust system, finished in black shade and independent tyre hugger makes Zeppelin an eye-candy for bike lovers.

4) Launch Date & Expected Price

Zeppelin is expected to use a 220cc engine. The same can either be derived from Apache 200’s engine or made from scratch for torque-biased performance. TVS is expected to launch the Zeppelin cruiser with an approximate ex-showroom price tag of INR 1.35 lakh in India. The official launch is expected to happen at the Auto Expo in Febraury 2020.

5) Rival Motorcycles

The cruiser rivals none other than Bajaj Avenger 220 and Royal Enfield Thunderbird in its lineup. The recently launched Jawa 300 is another indirect rival for the motorcycle. UM Commando, although priced at a very different point, also rivals the upcoming cruiser.

6) Instrument Console

The console on the Zeppelin is semi-digital, divided through physical breaks for easy differentiation and clean layout. The console has an analog tachometer, digital speedometer, odometer and fuel gauge. The rival cruisers from Bajaj are available with completely digital units while Royal Enfield uses an analog console.

7) Performance & Boost Technology

The 220cc engine is good for 20 BHP at 8500 rpm and 18.5 Nm at 7000 rpm. The engine comes with a 5-speed gearbox. The unique electric boost system of Zeppelin can help riders achieve more mileage per every refill. The system is not yet confirmed for the production version.
