750cc Royal Enfield Chased by Bajaj Dominar 400 @ 160+ kmph

Royal Enfield’s upcoming 750cc, twin cylinder motorcycle is surely something more than everyone dreams from the Bullet maker. Known by different names like Continental GT 750 and Interceptor 750, the upcoming 750cc Royal Enfield is a star before its official unveil. Recently, YouTube user ‘Kamal Here’ spotted one riding near Chennai and went into a friendly chase to see how well the machine performed on Indian highways. Both the riders kept riding on triple digit speeds and Kamal’s Dominar 400 did a fantastic job of chasing something that’s almost twice as big in terms of engine capacity and double the cylinder count.

Well, Dominar could have won the chase if Bajaj would have not limited the power to this certain range. Notice the rpm range that gets stuck at 9000 rpm and leaves Kamal empty at that time. The digital console shows 13000 rpm range and still, everything comes to an end at 9000! If Bajaj Dominar could have unlocked its full potential of let’s say even 11,000-12,000 rpm, the rider would have easily felt the difference. Still, Bajaj kept things economical and power was sacrificed so that engine life and mileage would never be a negative from Dominar’s side. Second thing that kept Dominar 400 behind was its high wet weight. At 182 kg, it is definitely heavier for its class. Still, this chase makes the fact clear that all new Royal Enfield 750 is very powerful and despite of being more than 200 kg (approx, Thunderbird 500 is 197 kg), it had enough torque to pull successfully after 150 kmph. Royal Enfield seems to target Harley Davidson Street 750 and Triumph Street Twin with its new offering. Still, getting the benefits of local production will let them price the machine somewhere in 3.5-4 lakh price bracket.
