Piaggio Group has officially launched its 125cc Aprilia Storm scooter in India at a price tag of INR 65,000 (ex-showroom). The scooter started reaching the dealerships a week ago while the price for the same has now been revealed officially at the brand’s social media handles. The newly launched Storm 125 was first showcased at Auto Expo 2018 and is priced below the already existing SR 125.
The 125cc Aprilia Storm scooter is regarded as one of the most affordable Italian two-wheelers in India that shares several characteristics with its elder sibling. The all-new Aprilia scooter will be available in Matte Red and the Matte Yellow colour options with bolder graphics at the front as well on the side panels.
The Aprilia Storm 125 features a dual tone paint scheme and gets 12-inch alloy wheels with fatter terrain tyres while the SR 125 features 14-inch alloy wheels. The scooter has been equipped with drum brakes at either end that is assisted by a Combi Braking System (CBS). The suspension duties are handled by hydraulic telescopic forks at the front while the rear gets hydraulic shock absorbers. The scooter gets Vee rubber tyres measuring 120/80 at the front and 130/80 at the rear.
Powering the Aprilia Storm 125 is SR 125 inspired 124.5cc, single-cylinder 3-valve engine capable of churning out a maximum power of 9.52 bhp at 7250 rpm and an utmost torque of 9.9 Nm at 6250 rpm. The engine comes mated to a CVT automatic gearbox.
In addition to the mechanical bits, the body works and the instrument console also remains identical to the SR 125. The 125cc Aprilia Storm scooter will be available at every Piaggio and Aprilia showroom. The all-new scooter will compete in the market with the likes of TVS Ntorq, Suzuki Burgman, and Honda Grazia in India.
