Aprilia RS 150 and Tuono 150 shocked everyone with their surprise entry at Auto Expo 2018. Both the machines are based on the same platform but carry different design language for pleasing different riding styles. Here are five must-know facts about the upcoming 150cc Aprilia duo.
5 Fast Facts About 150cc Aprilia RS & Tuono
1) Design and Style
Replicas of 1000cc Aprilia Sport Bikes
The design is highly or you can say purely inspired by the litre-class Aprilia RSV4 and Tuono 1100. The scaled versions look perfect and deal with both sport and street bike lovers of India. Aprilia RS 150 is a perfect R15 rival while Tuono 150 comes with huge front fascia and exposed engine bay.
2) Engine and Gearbox
Decent Amount of Power and Torque
Aprilia combo comes with a powerful 150cc, single cylinder, liquid cooled and fuel injected motor producing 18 HP at 10,000 rpm and 14 Nm at 7,500 rpm. This makes it the second most powerful option after Yamaha R15 Version 3.0. As they have not revealed the weight for both these bikes, the power-to-weight ratio can still surprise us.
3) Safety and Brakes
Comes with Standard 2-Channel ABS
Dual Channel ABS comes as standard on Aprilia RS 150 and Tuono 150. Unlike other bikes with optional single channel ABS, Aprilia will use dual channel unit through its 300mm front and 218mm rear disc. It will surely raise the pricing to some extent.
4) Equipment
Dual Discs, USD Forks & Quick-Shifter
If Aprilia brings Upside Down forks as standard on both these models, this would make them the segment first options to carry such impressive performance enhancing feature. Setup of suspension is also expected to stay more track focused on Aprilia RS 150.
An optional quick-shifter on both these bikes would mean pro-level track spec riding experience for the buyers. It saves time between gear shifts and results in better use of the gearbox potential. Even the faired front section of Tuono 150 will help buyers stay away from wind blast.
5) Launch Details and Expected Price
India Launch to Happen in 2020
Aprilia recently made it clear that the launch of RS 150 & Tuono 150 won’t happen before 2020. Aprilia will manufacture these 2 bikes in India, so we can expect aggressive price tags for both the bikes. RS 150 would be priced around INR 1.50-1.60 lakhs and Tuono 150 at INR 1.40-1.50 lakhs (ex-showroom). Both sports bikes are expected to launch in India around May 2020.
