Aprilia SR 125 Spied in India | Expected to be Launched Soon
Aprilia SR125 was recently spotted in India, most probably arrived for homologation at ARAI and ready to have its launch event in the coming months. The launch of a smaller model could help Aprilia place itself at an even more attractive price tag.
This would help fans with strict budget explore the possibility of the race inspired design of the SR series. The spy images were clicked inside an ARAI facility, further making the fact of homologation sure for the scooter. It looks identical to the Aprilia SR 150 and may carry similar components in its body.
Aprilia SR 125 carries a 124cc, single cylinder engine producing 9.46 BHP at 8500 rpm and 8.2 Nm at 7500 rpm. The engine comes mated to an automatic gearbox while the scooter weighs just 122 kg. It carries identical seat height, ground clearance and wheels on offer in the international spec version. The fuel tank even carries 7 liters of carrying capacity.
SR 125 comes with front telescopic forks while rear uses single sided coil spring suspension. If they have to keep the costs under check, sharing the engine with Vespa VX 125 would be the best option. Even the scooter spotted here uses the body of SR 150 while gets the smaller engine under its frame.
The Indian engine is good for 9.9 BHP and 10.6 Nm of torque. This will not just make the machine more powerful but also keep the cost low due to more localization. The more efficient version could get a price tag of around INR 55,000-60,000.
If placed at this point, the best part would be its value for money approach, fetching buyers who were ready to get a new Honda Activa 125 or Suzuki Access 125 in the coming months. However, placing the same at such low point may also force them to change some premium equipment with normal parts.
