Aprilia Storm 125 Scooter Launched in India @ INR 65,000

Aprilia has finally launched its Storm 125 scooter in India with a price tag of INR 65,000. It is priced around INR 8000 less than the SR125 that is available for INR 72,790 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The most recent image of the scooter shows that it is available with drum brakes at both the ends. The production model has got some significant changes when compared to the Storm 125 model that was unveiled at the Auto Expo 2018.

It looks like Storm 125 is using 12-inch wheels, but their design is pretty similar to the 10-inch ones seen on the Vespa models in India. The wheels are paired to drum brakes that will come featured with CBS (Combined Braking System). It is still unknown whether the company will offer a front disc brake equipped model or not. The production model of the Storm 125 also has a pillion grab-rail and a white Aprilia logo instead of the red one as seen on the scooter when it was displayed for the first time.

The brand has made many changes to cut the production costs but thankfully they have not swapped out the Vee rubber off-road oriented tyres with regular tyres. The tyres measure 120/80 at the front and 130/80 at the rear, whereas the standard model of the SR sports 120/70 section rubber at both the ends. The Storm 125 also features bold graphics as seen on the scooter displayed at the Auto Expo last year.

Though, most of the components of the Storm 125 are identical to the SR 125 such as the bodywork, instrumentation, and lights. Mechanically, its power is most likely to come from the same single-cylinder, 3-valve air-cooled unit that is seen on the SR125. On the SR, it is good enough to produce 9.5HP of maximum power at 7250 rpm and 9.8 Nm of peak torque at 6250 rpm. The scooter would be competing in the Indian market with the likes of Honda Grazia, Suzuki Burgman, and the TVS Ntorq.
