As we reported earlier, Bajaj is all set to launch the BS6-compliant models of the Pulsar series in the Indian market in the coming weeks. Ahead of the launch, the BS6 Bajaj Pulsar 220F has been spotted testing for the first time. Bajaj Auto has equipped the 220cc motorcycle with fuel injection to meet the upcoming BS6 emission norms that will be implemented in the country on April 1, 2020.
In terms of design, there are no changes as the BS6 model looks exactly similar to the current-gen BS4 model of the Pulsar 220F. The bike features the same semi-faired design with projector headlights, a split-seat setup and a tall front visor. As of now, we don’t have the details regarding the power and torque values of the updated 220cc fuel-injected BS6 model though we can expect the motorcycle to get a slight drop in the values like most of the recently launched BS6 bikes.
For reference, the BS4-compliant model of the Bajaj Pulsar 220F is powered by a 220cc, single-cylinder carburetted, oil-cooled engine that generates a maximum power of 20.93HP @ 8500 rpm and a peak torque of 18.55Nm @ 7000 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The approximate top speed of the motorcycle stands at 134kmph while the acceleration time may vary highly with the wind direction and the weight of the rider.
The suspension duties of the BS6 Bajaj Pulsar 220F will continue to be handled by telescopic forks with anti-friction bush at the front and 5-way adjustable Nitrox shock absorbers at the rear. For braking performance, the bike will remain equipped with a 260mm single disc at the front and a 230mm single disc at the rear, which will be further mated to a single-channel ABS unit as standard.
At present, the BS4 model of the 220F is available in the market with an ex-showroom price tag of INR 1.08 lakhs while the BS6-compliant model is expected to get a price hike of around INR 8,000 to INR 10,000.
