250cc Bajaj Pulsar Adventure Motorcycle in the Making: Rumours have hit the auto industry again claiming that the next all-new premium product by Bajaj Auto would be an adventure bike, which is expected to be known as Pulsar AS250.
The Bajaj Pulsar AS150 and the AS200 are the only Pulsar variants till date that did not live up to the expectations of the buyers in India. The new 250cc product will help the company have three different types of premium motorcycles (NS200, RS200, AS250) in India, each of them having its unique purpose to serve.
As the new model would be a quarter-litre motorcycle, so it would do justice to its adventure-tourer classification. Also, the new generation model is expected to adopt a completely fresh styling. It would be a brand new product which will get a raised suspension and dual-purpose tyres to ensure proper off-roading experience.
The upcoming Pulsar AS250 will be powered by a single cylinder liquid-cooled engine, which would be based on the KTM 250 Duke’s 248.8cc motor. The engine produces 30 HP of power at 9000 rpm and 24 Nm of peak torque at 7500 rpm and comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch. It is further expected that Bajaj will tune the engine to make it more suitable for the adventure and touring purpose.
The 250cc Bajaj Pulsar AS will definitely bring high ground clearance, a good amount of torque, and tough suspension components than any other existing Bajaj motorcycle. If we talk about some of the features, it is expected that the bike will get a fully-digital instrument cluster, front and rear disc brakes with a dual-channel ABS unit with rear lift protection, a clip-on handlebar, plus it will also get LED headlight and taillight.
Recently, Hero MotoCorp launched its adventure motorcycle XPulse to take a shot at the affordable off-roading segment. But with a significantly more powerful engine and proper off-road hardware, the upcoming Bajaj Pulsar AS250 could be the adventure tourer that the enthusiasts have been waiting for. It is expected to priced around INR 1.40 lakh (ex-showroom).
After the launch of the Bajaj’s 250cc motorcycle, the adventure seekers in India would be having 3 affordable options namely Pulsar AS250, Hero XPulse 200, and the Royal Enfield Himalayan, as these three would be the only adventure touring motorcycles available in a price range between INR 1-2 lakh (ex-showroom).
