Bajaj Avenger 160 Street, the most affordable cruiser motorcycle has started reaching the dealerships across India. The new 160cc cruiser has been designed to replace the Avenger 180 Street, and the specifications for the motorcycle surfaced online last week.
The entry-level cruiser is priced at INR 81,036 (ex-showroom Pune), getting a price tag of INR 7000 lesser than the Avenger 180. According to some of the Bajaj dealerships, a few units of the new Avenger 160 Street motorcycle has already been delivered to their respective buyers.
Coming to the design, the Bajaj Avenger 160 features a similar “Street” design as that of the Avenger 180 with completely blacked out components. The bike is also equipped with similar alloy wheels as well as a low slung seat in addition to a single pod analogue instrument console.
Powering the Avenger 160 Street is NS160 inspired 160.3cc, air-cooled, 4-valve engine capable of churning out a maximum power of 15.5 HP and a peak torque of 14.6 Nm. The engine is mated to a 5-speed transmission. The power value is similar to the one offered on the Avenger 180 but the latter offers a lesser torque of 13.7 Nm.
The Avenger 160 Street features disc brake at the front end while the rear of the bike gets a drum brake. The motorcycle has been equipped with single channel ABS for increased safety. Coming to the suspension, the entry-level cruiser gets telescopic forks at the front and dual shock absorbers at the rear.
One of the major reasons for the discontinuation of the Avenger 180 is the fact that it was placed too close to the 220cc version, thereby getting low sales number. Being launched at a competitive price tag, the Bajaj Avenger 160 is going to behold the title of the most affordable cruiser motorcycle in the country that will compete with the likes of Suzuki Intruder 150.
