Bajaj Avenger 220 is preparing for an ABS update as a recent automotive report hints the launch of the popular cruiser with a single channel ABS this month. The motorcycle will launch with an ex-showroom price tag of INR 1,02,425. The price hike will stay around INR 6700 as Avengers are already quite expensive in comparison to regular bikes and thus, absorbing the difference in price will justify the presence of the cruiser motorcycle.

Bajaj Auto will use the same ABS unit as Pulsar 220F (also expected to launch this month) for the motorcycle. The same ABS unit will be shared with the remaining motorcycles in the company lineup. Some dealers have started accepting bookings for the ABS-equipped models while the brand is yet to announce the official arrival of these options. The same ABS unit will also be seen on the 180cc Avenger. Bajaj Avenger rivals a long list of motorcycles in the cruiser section, with only Suzuki Intruder being smaller in displacement.

Every manufacturer is working on ABS-equipped motorcycles that are more than 125cc in displacement. Apart from Yamaha, every other brand has tested the ABS unit on one of their non-ABS models. Bajaj Auto retails Pulsar 150, NS160, 180 and 220F in the sportbike, V15 in the commuter and Avenger series in the cruiser segment. The most powerful among all are the 200cc RS and NS series motorcycles with liquid cooling in both and fuel injection in the fully faired model.
Bajaj Avenger 220 is undoubtedly the most powerful cruiser at this point as Suzuki Intruder comes with just a 155cc engine. The 220cc model of Avenger generates maximum power and maximum torque of 19.03 HP and 17.5 NM respectively.
