According to recent reports, Bajaj Auto has discontinued the Discover 110 and Discover 125 in the Indian markets. The brand has recently updated its portfolio with the now-mandatory BS6 emission norms though the Bajaj Discover series didn’t make the cut. Since the Discover series has been known to be one of the most sought-after and old series from the brand, the decision to not offer it a BS6 upgrade came as a surprise to the enthusiasts.
The brand had been working constantly towards expanding the Bajaj Discover range from the past decade with the addition of 100, 125, 135, 150cc engines though the series has not been able to get rather good sales when compared to other motorcycles in its segment.
Even with the addition of features like disc brakes, premium rear shock absorbers and more, the Bajaj Discover series has not been able to get ahead in the competition and win the audience’s hearts.
The Bajaj Discover range despite having more than 30 nameplates in its lifetime, as well as a smarter design language, has not been upgraded by the brand according to the BS6 emission norms though it is not yet sure if the brand has stopped the international exports of the series as well.
Since the BS4 Bajaj Discover series were exported to the international markets, one can expect the exports to carry on as usual as there are no mandatory emission norm changes announced in some of the countries.
One can also expect the brand to churn out an all-new Bajaj Discover motorcycle sometime in the future which will feature a premium design language as well as a powerful engine, distinguishing it apart from the commuter styling.
At present, the CT100 and Platina are some of the Bajaj motorcycles that have made a permanent place in the most sought-after motorcycle segment in the Indian markets. On the other hand, the Bajaj Pulsar series is also doing good for the brand in terms of sales and have been recently upgraded with BS6-compliant engines.
