Bajaj Pulsar NS160 is now available with a rear disc brake. As most fans were not at all happy with the single disc approach, Bajaj Auto seems to be working hard to keep fans satisfied at all times. The use of a rear disc brake will add more braking power to this package, also adding more value to the Pulsar brand in competition with rivals like Honda CB Hornet 160R, TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, Suzuki Gixxer and Yamaha FZ. The motorcycle is priced INR 3,000 over the standard price tag of INR 82,600 (ex-showroom Delhi).
It goes with the fashion of brands offering a rear disc for INR 2000-3000 over the price of the base model. Bajaj Auto is set to launch the much-awaited variant officially as they may hold a private event for the promotion of their 150cc segment streetfighter. The price difference is justified up to some extent for most rivals but, Suzuki Gixxer is very well priced in comparison to Pulsar NS160. The streetfighter from Suzuki offers a rear disc model for INR 80,000 and brings ABS equipped model for a slight hike in its price tag. The independent tire hugger stays intact after this addition.
Bajaj Auto will use the same shade combination for its dual disc variant as the one seen on sale. The 160.3cc, single cylinder, carburetor fed engine is good for 15.3 bhp at 8500 rpm and 14.6 Nm at 6500 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Unlike other options with wide rear tires, Pulsar NS160 uses a decently wide unit at both front and back end. The NS200 inspired design is its strongest point while lack of appropriate rubber counts as the weakest. The model now sits above the Pulsar 180 in the Bajaj lineup.
