Bajaj Urbanite Electric Scooter Spotted for the First Time

Fully camouflaged test mules of an urban scooter expected to be the new Bajaj Urbanite has been spotted testing in Pune. With Bajaj’s earlier plan on offering urban mobility solutions in the local as well as the International market, the leaked images you see here are most probably of the upcoming Bajaj Urbanite electric scooter.

Keeping the design close to the first rendered sketches of Bajaj scooter under the Urbanite brand that surfaced way back in February this year, the fully camouflaged test mules features twin slanting tail lamps, a wide seat, and a pillion grab handle. As seen in the images, the newly spied scooter also features foldable rear footrest.

Bajaj Urbanite Electric Scooter Spotted for the First Time

As promised earlier by the brand that it will only be launching electric scooters whenever possible, the spy shots do guarantee that the upcoming scooter would be an all-electric product. Though there hasn’t been any confirmation on the transmission, the Bajaj Urbanite is expected to be equipped with a CVT transmission.

According to some of the reports, the Urbanite scooter will be launching in the Indian market by the end of the year 2019. Some of the expected features of the Bajaj Urbanite includes a curvy front profile, stylish alloy wheels, a single-sided front suspension, and a comfortable single piece saddle.

The brand might also introduce a fully digital instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity and navigation features in order to compete in the market with the likes of the upcoming Honda Activa 6G.

The brand might equip the scooter with an eSIM embedded internet technology that allows the riders to keep track of all the scooter details like the remaining battery, ride measures, location of the scooter and more via their smartphone. In addition to the Urbanite scooter, Bajaj Auto is also working on an electric version of the Qute quadricycle that will also get the Urbanite badging in the coming months.
