The much-awaited BS6 2020 Bajaj Dominar 400 has been recently launched by the brand at a price tag of INR 1,91,751 (ex-showroom). The updated 400cc motorcycle is now equipped with a BS6-compliant engine and is available across the dealerships at a premium of INR 1,749 only when compared to its BS4 price tag of INR 1,90,002. The brand has also listed the BS4 price tag of the motorcycle at its official website indicating that the BS4 stock is still available with the dealerships.
Coming to the mechanical updates, the 400cc Dominar is powered by the same 373.3cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected, liquid-cooled, DOHC engine that is now BS6-compliant and capable of offering maximum power of 40HP @ 8,800 rpm and a peak torque of 35Nm @ 7,000 rpm. The engine remains mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The power and torque figures of the updated machine remain similar to the one offered by the BS4 version though the peak power comes in at 150 rpm higher.
Apart from the addition of a BS6-compliant engine, the updated Dominar 400 remains identical to the MY2019 update that was launched by the brand back in April 2019. The muscular profile of the motorcycle has been kept intact while the dual instrument console also remains the same.
The BS6 Bajaj Dominar 400 continues to feature 43mm Upside Down (USD) forks at the front while the rear features a monoshock unit. The disc brakes set up at either side mated to a dual-channel ABS unit also remains the same with the updated motorcycle variant.
The brand has recently also launched a toned-down lower-displacement Bajaj Dominar 250 which features almost identical traits in comparison to its elder 400cc sibling though carries a cheaper swingarm unit and thinner tyres. The 250cc motorcycle is based on the KTM Duke 250 when it comes to the mechanical bits.
