BS6 Bajaj Avenger Series Launched in India: The BS6-compliant models of the Bajaj Avenger 220 Cruise and the Avenger 160 Street have been officially launched by the brand in the Indian markets. The customers can now avail the BS6 Avenger 220 Cruise at an ex-showroom price tag of INR 1,16,672 while the BS6 Avenger 160 Street is now available at INR 94,893. The former has been rewarded with a premium of INR 11,584 while the latter gets a premium of INR 11,642 over the BS4 counterparts.

Powering the updated Avenger 220 Cruise is a BS6-compliant, 220cc, oil-cooled, fuel-injected engine that is capable of churning out a maximum power of 19.03HP @ 8500 rpm and a peak torque of 17.55Nm @ 7000 rpm. The power figure of the updated motorcycle variant remains the same while the torque has been increased by 0.5Nm when compared to the BS4 version. The engine remains mated to a 5-speed transmission. With the addition of a catalytic converter and other features to comply with BS6 norms, the 220cc motorcycle now weighs 163kg which is 4 kg higher than the BS4 version.
On the other hand, the BS6 Bajaj Avenger 160 Street is now powered by a 160cc, fuel-injected, oil-cooled engine that is now good for 15HP @ 8500 rpm and 13.7Nm @ 7000 rpm. The torque value for the updated motorcycle is now up by 0.2Nm while the power value remains the same. The motorcycle now weighs 2kg heavier at 156kg than its BS4 version.

The BS6 models of the Bajaj Avenger now feature a 280mm front disc when compared to the 260mm front disc offered on their BS4 counterparts. Apart from this, all the mechanical and cosmetic bits on both the updated motorcycle variants remain the same. The BS6-compliant variants of the Avenger series have already started reaching the dealerships. Surprisingly, Bajaj Auto has not announced anything regarding the Street version of the Avenger 220, though one can expect to get the same INR 1.17 lakh ex-showroom price tag.
