BS6 Bajaj Pulsar RS200 Launched in India: The much-awaited BS6 Bajaj Pulsar RS200 has been officially launched by the brand at a price tag of INR 1.45 lakhs (ex-showroom, New Delhi). The updated motorcycle variant is now available in the markets with a premium of INR 3,000 over its BS4 price tag.
The BS6 price tag of the motorcycle, as well as the other two-wheelers under the brand’s portfolio, have been listed on the brand’s official website. Bajaj Auto has not yet removed the BS4 price tags of the motorcycles which gives the idea that the BS4 inventory still lingers with some of the dealerships even after the BS6 emission norms have commenced in the country.
Powering the 2020 Bajaj Pulsar RS200 is the same 199.5cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine that is now BS6-compliant. The motorcycle continues to offer a maximum power of 24.5HP @ 9,750 rpm while the peak torque has increased by 0.1Nm and now stands at 18.7Nm @ 8,000 rpm. The engine remains mated to a six-speed transmission.
With the addition of a catalytic converter and few other mechanical bits to make the sportbike BS6-compliant, the overall weight of the motorcycle has increased by 2kgs. The microscopic increase in the torque by 0.1Nm is not effective in increasing the performance while the additional weight may reduce it further.
Apart from offering a BS6-compliant engine, the updated BS6 Bajaj Pulsar RS200 remains identical to its BS4 counterpart when it comes to the cosmetic bits and the graphics. The suspension duties continue to be handled by conventional telescopic forks at the front while the rear features a nitrox gas-charged monoshock unit.
Contrary to the rumours of the BS6 model of the RS200 getting a 2-channel ABS, as per the official website of Bajaj Auto, the updated motorcycle continues to feature a similar disc brake setup at either side mated to a single-channel ABS as standard.
The brand is further expected to offer the motorcycle in new colour schemes in the coming months to add to its overall sales which are not so good ever since the initial launch.
